About Dr. Uttam Laudari: A Dedication to Surgical Excellence and Compassionate Care
Welcome. I am Dr. Uttam Laudari, and it is my privilege to welcome you to my professional space. For me, medicine is not just about treating diseases; it is about caring for people, understanding their concerns, and guiding them through some of the most challenging moments of their lives with expertise and empathy. My practice is built on a foundation of advanced surgical skill, a relentless pursuit of innovation, and a deep-seated commitment to patient safety and well-being.

A Journey of Expertise and Global Training
My path to becoming a surgeon began with a foundational degree in General Surgery (MS). However, my passion for the complexities of the digestive system led me to pursue the highest level of surgical training: an MCh (Magister Chirurgiae) in Surgical Gastroenterology. This super-specialty has equipped me with the advanced skills necessary to manage intricate diseases of the liver, pancreas, bile ducts, and gastrointestinal tract.
My quest for knowledge has taken me beyond Nepal's borders. I have had the privilege of training at world-renowned institutions, including:
- Max Hospital, Saket, New Delhi: Where I gained hands-on experience in complex hepatobiliary surgeries and assisted in over 67 living donor liver transplantations under the mentorship of Prof. Subash Gupta.
- Medical University of Graz, Austria: Where I observed and learned cutting-edge techniques in robotic surgery, complex liver resections, and advanced oncologic care from Prof. Robert Sucher.
This international exposure, combined with high-volume training at centers like Dhulikhel Hospital and Kathmandu Medical College, has shaped my surgical philosophy: to blend global best practices with a deep understanding of the local healthcare landscape.
A Philosophy of Innovation and Patient-Centric Care
I believe that a surgeon's role extends beyond the operating room. It is about constantly seeking better, safer, and more accessible ways to deliver care. This belief has driven several key initiatives:
- Nep-Endotrainer: To address the need for affordable surgical training in Nepal, I developed a cost-effective laparoscopic training model. This tool is now used in training centers across the country, helping to shape the next generation of skilled surgeons.
- Safe & Affordable Surgery: My research, recognized by the Society of Surgeons of Nepal, focuses on reducing the financial and physical burdens on patients, particularly those dealing with complex surgical complications. I am committed to providing world-class care that is both effective and accessible.
- Tele-colleaguography: I pioneered the use of simple tele-mentoring platforms as a real-time safety check during critical surgeries. This innovation helps prevent major complications by ensuring expert collaboration is always just a call away.
Leadership, Teaching, and Community Service
With over 14 years of experience and having treated more than 5,000 patients, I have learned that healing is a collaborative effort. As a Lecturer and the organizer of the national "Surgery Pearls" conference, I am passionate about sharing knowledge and elevating the standard of surgical care across Nepal.
My commitment to well-being extends beyond the hospital walls. I am actively involved in community service through initiatives like the Karmadha Sewa Samaj, which aims to improve healthcare access for underserved populations, and my past leadership in the Rotaract Club of Kathmandu Medical College.
Your Health is My Priority
Whether you are seeking treatment for a complex gastrointestinal condition, require advanced minimally invasive surgery, or need a trusted expert opinion, I am here to help.
